You know where a piece can be moved to and what it's capable of. Think of chess, you look at the board and physically see all of the pieces and where they are placed.
I feel like in the Witcher 3 you could look at the table and at a glance make sense of things. In this standalone however there's just so much going on it's overwhelming. I'm not a card game player, so I was surprised I caught on to Gwent so fast and really enjoyed it. I liked Gwent in the Witcher 3 because of how simple it was. but I don't think I'm a fan of this version either. I was only given access to the Beta yesterday, so my knowledge of this game right now is limited. I honestly had no problem beating people with clearly better decks when I first started, My only good card being Caretaker (Got it from the tutorial) and Woodland Spirit once I got to level 7 (From a keg) The start is hard yes I agree but once you get to about level 15-20 you should have a solid collection to beat anyone. Multiplayer is a whole other story, How can the game differentiate between two level 10's, who has the better deck of payed for it? Single player campaign isn't here yet, I honestly don't see the point in versing the AI as you get no rewards and use proper decks.
Gwent online player free#
I started in December and from playing an hour or two a day I've nearly collected all the cards from three factions (I'm a Free to Play player) You don't need to pay, all it does is speed up your progression. Nearly all CCG's offer card packs for real money, it's not just Gwent. Muster, Revive, Agile (Only Melee and Ranged) and a few cards with Scorch were the only abilities on cards (Maybe more can't remember)Īlso you were versing AI who honestly weren't a challenge at all, once you got the majority of the cards you could only lose if you tried. Nearly every card had no ability and just relied on there base strength. The old music is here now so no need to complain about that.Īs for the Witchers Gwent it was an unbalanced mess. Of course, for people who are not a "Witcher 3-hard-core fan" as I am, and who don't mind or don't notice the differences between the original Gwent and this one, I guess this game is ok.įor the rest of us, this isn't our Gwent. Sorry, but why should anyone want to spend up to that amount of money to play cards, when there are video games out there which, for much less, offer a much wider experience (Witcher 3 included) than just playing cards?Īnd also, why would any of us Witcher 3's fans want to spend that amount of money, when we can play the original Gwent within the Witcher 3 for free?ĥ) Playing "Single Player" is no fun: the game always wins with much, much stronger cards.Ħ) As for Multiplayer, when we are online, the game looks for someone else who is also online, and is close to our level (at least this is my understanding), however I have the impression that the choice of opponent is random, and you end up against opponents who have much stronger cards, also because some of them purchased them. Here you need 25, thus diluting the probability of having the "good cards".Ĥ) You offer cards on sale, for up to USD 61.99, which is far more than the Witcher 3's price. For example, in the original Gwent, 23 cards were enough to have a deck. You must have thought that you were going to be creative, but changing cards = changing game.ģ) You changed the deck rules.
Yes, some are similar, but overall they are different. Let me tell you why.ġ) Where is the wonderful Gwent music? You have replaced it with some other music, without - I would say - realising the importance of that specific music, or the importance and the impact of the Witcher 3's music as a whole.Ģ) Where are our original Gwent cards? You have replaced the old cards we are used to with new, different cards. So, dear CDPR, the first thing I have to tell you is that this new game of yours you call Gwent is not "our Gwent". The fact is, sometimes a different type of feedback can be more useful that the usual heap of compliments. I am testing other video games for other companies, and I always provide a honest, although - of course - personal feedback. I have just been granted access to Gwent Beta (thank you for the privilege, I appreciate it), and, after trying it, and spending a good amount of time thinking about whether I should post a comment, I decided to do it.
